A closeup of one of the knobs. The tenon was epoxied into the knob, so they're one now.
Drawer Pulls, Or Gems?
Gem-inspired drawer pulls. These will be attached with slip tenons (at right) since integral tenons would have gotten in the way of shaping the pulls by hand.
Fun With Molding
The molding is on and now time to deal with the nail holes. I'd prefer not to deal with nail holes, especially with prefinished molding. But this molding is fairly small and I just couldn't come up with a safe, consistent way to clamp it while the glue set.
A Miter Sled For Molding
I've also been working on the molding that makes the transition from base to case. The molding itself was made a while ago, but I've prefinished it and need to cut & install it. Why prefinished? Because I didn't want to have to use dye anywhere near the already finished maple case. I'll have to touch things up after filling nail holes, but it's still safer than trying to dye and finish the molding in place. Here's a little miter sled I made for the table saw, which worked really well using a fairly new Tenryu Gold Metal blade.
Drawer Fronts With Continuous Grain
And the veneers are also continuous so that the grain flows from one drawer front to the next. One of those little things that makes a huge difference. Yes, that's my flip phone.
