The base of this table has three curved stretchers. One stretcher comes off each of the three legs and the stretchers join together at the center line of the table. To facilitate that three- way joint, I'm using a spline (or slip tenon, or loose tenon, or whatever have you). This one is made of 5 layers of shop sawn cherry veneer, with the grain direction of the layers oriented to provide for reinforced long grain in each "spoke". The take home: it's a cool little spline.
