As part of the design process, I made a mock-up of the sideboard, primarily out of MDF. The front, left leg is a full prototype, made out of Alaskan yellow cedar. The other 3 legs are just MDF, basically 2d representations of the legs. Besides making the one prototype leg (a design process in itself), the mock-up didn't take long to build and is extremely useful in visualizing the finished piece.
