The Door is Open
My last Fine Woodworking Magazine article for this year is headed to mailboxes and newsstands. Pick up a copy of the Tools & Shops issue to see my studio. Or, better yet, drop me a line to make an appointment to see it in person.
Belts and Suspenders
And here's the dovetail mortise after routing. The hole visible in the bottom of mortise is for a screw - belts and suspenders. The blade shown here is quartersawn beech, which I'm using at the back of the chest of drawers. The front blades are walnut.
Routing Assistance
Here's the jig in use. Pretty straight forward. It's used with a router with guide bushing. The dovetail mortise is cut in two passes. First with a 3/8" straight bit to clear some material, followed by a 5/8" dovetail bit.
A Preponderance of Clamps
Holy lots of clamps for a jig. This one is for routing the short sliding dovetails used to join vertical dividers to blades on the chest of drawers, 20 in total.
