Then I drilled the screw holes and countersinks in the brass tabs. It took a little finessing to get the hold downs worked out. A milling vise for the drill press is in my future, I think.
Lapping Brass
After filing the cut edges to clean them up, it's time to lap all surfaces. I'll go up to P800 grit, no need for a super polish as these will not be seen.
Back In Brass
Today I'm working with some brass bar stock which will become tabs to secure the sideboard case to the base. First step is cutting the pieces to length with a hacksaw on this homemade miter box.
Announcement
Remember that announcement about an announcement. Well, here it is. I had hoped to have this decal on the van for the announcement, but you know how that goes. Anyway, yes, the van is for sale. It was a tough decision.
Case Closed
The rosewood edging is finished, and here is the case sitting on the base. The bottom 1/2" of the case will be covered with molding, so the case bottom will not be visible.
