Pottery Display Cabinet at Indiana University of Pennsylvania

This display cabinet will be the permanent home for a series of ceramic pots made by the late poet, writer, educator and potter, MC Richards.

The pots, called Four Virgins of the Elk Dance, represent a shift in MC’s approach to her work as a potter, which was inspired by an account of a childhood vision experienced by Black Elk, a holy man of the Oglala Lakota people.

The pots are not shown here as the display cabinet is not yet installed in its permanent home. Once installed, the pots will be protected by a frameless tempered glass vitrine.
